UnitedHealth Group named John Rex, formerly of its subsidiary Optum, as Chief Financial Officer in June 2016. Rex replaces David Wichmann, who has been working dual roles as President and CFO since a C-level reorganization in November  2014. Wichmann will stay on as President of the company. UnitedHealth Group includes UnitedHealthcare and Optum, a health services platform, as well as Amil, Brazil’s largest health care company.

Prior to joining Optum, Rex was an equity research analyst in the health care sector and Managing Director of J.P. Morgan, and a certified public accountant at Ernst & Young, where he specialized in the health services sector.

Rex served as executive vice president and CFO of Optum since March 2012. His new role puts him in charge of treasury, mergers and acquisitions, and venture and private equity investments for UnitedHealth Group. Tami Reller, formerly Executive VP and Chief Marketing Officer, has replaced Rex as Optum’s CFO.
