EIOPA announces new stakeholder group members

E.U. regulator EIOPA (the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority) in July 2018 announced the new composition of the Insurance and Reinsurance Stakeholder Group (IRSG) and the Occupational Pensions Stakeholder Group (OPSG).

The two stakeholder groups are renewed every 30 months. The new rosters show a more balanced approach in regard to gender and national diversity as well to a diversity for different types of stakeholders.

In total, 16 nationalities are represented in each group, and women represent about a quarter of these members (26.6% in the IRSG and 23.3% in the OPSG), marking an increase from the current composition. Furthermore, for the OPSG, the number of representatives of beneficiaries has doubled from 4 to 8, compared to the current composition.

The new composition reflects the orientation of the newly-released draft report of the European Parliament on the reform of European supervisory authorities which proposes an equal number of industry representatives, as well as users and employees of financial institutions (more specifically 13 each, with the four remaining members being independent academics).

EIOPA considered 215 applications from 25 European countries, submitted following an open call. The new compositions of the stakeholder groups can be downloaded here:
