Gallagher Acquires Four US and English Firms

Gallagher in May 2018 announced several acquisitions in the United States and England to bolster its retail property/casualty brokerage operations and employee benefits consulting services.

Simi Valley, California-based Thomas Costello Insurance Agency is a retail property/casualty broker, and employee benefits consultant and broker, offering commercial and personal coverages to clients primarily across Southern California. Tom Costello and his associates will continue to operate from their current location under the direction of Scott Firestone, President of Gallagher’s Southwest region retail property/casualty brokerage operations, and Norbert Chung, President of Gallagher’s Western region employee benefits consulting and brokerage operations.

Another recent acquisition is Bellevue, Washington-based ClearPoint Financial, a retirement plan consultant and investment analyst serving the corporate retirement plan marketplace across the Northwestern United States. Paul Grutzner, Michael Brown and their associates will continue to operate from their current location under the direction of Norbert Chung, head of Gallagher’s Western employee benefits consulting and brokerage operations.

Chester, UK-based Risk Services (NW) is a regional insurance broker offering tailor-made solutions for corporate and commercial clients. Steve Lowe, Tom Penn and their associates will continue to operate from their current location under the direction of Stephen Penketh, Regional Managing Director for Gallagher’s North-West UK retail property/casualty brokerage operations.

Another acquisition was the Akron, Ohio-based A.J. Amer Agency. Founded in 1916 by Louis Amer, A.J. Amer Agency is a retail property/casualty insurance agency and employee benefit consultant offering coverages to businesses and individuals throughout Northeast Ohio. Hamilton Amer, Charles Tennent and their associates will continue to operate from their current location under the direction of Cindy LaMantia, president of Gallagher’s Great Lakes region retail property/casualty brokerage operations, and John Neumaier, President of Gallagher’s Great Lakes employee benefits consulting and brokerage operations.

No terms of the acquisitions were disclosed.
