Multinational employee benefits network MAXIS Global Benefits Network (MAXIS GBN [1]) in May 2020 announced the appointment of Mattieu Rouot as its new CEO.

Based in London, UK, Rouot succeeds Mauro Dugulin who oversaw the move from France to London five years ago [2] and the implementation of a strategy focusing on large corporates.

Rouot is far from being a newcomer to MAXIS, having played a key role in shaping the network’s course since 2014 in his capacity of Senior Vice President of AXA International Employee Benefits and a member of MAXIS supervisory board along with James Reid, Executive Vice President, Global Employee Benefits, MetLife, and Chairman of MAXIS GBN’s board of directors. Mattieu was instrumental in creating the new London-based MAXIS GBN joint venture in 2016 and has served on the supervisory board since its inception.

Since the move, MAXIS has successfully focused on employee benefits captives and now has more than 50 captive clients, as well as 500+ multinationals, most of them large ones. It has also grown its health and wellness offering with the addition of new data analytics and services. The company now has over 100 permanent employees spread across four continents.

Mattieu joins MAXIS from the position of Senior Vice President of AXA International Employee Benefits (IEB) which he held since 2014. The Paris-based AXA business unit has three primary lines of operations, MAXIS GBN, International Private Medical Insurance (iPMI) and reinsurance. Prior to taking up the role within IEB, Mattieu was Group Head of Investor Relations for AXA. He had joined AXA as Vice President and financial controller USA/UK/Benelux; then became Head of the UK Actuarial Service Center; and finally AXA UK’s Director of Finance and Chief Risk Officer. Prior to AXA, Mattieu worked for life insurance carrier BNP Paribas Cardif as Head of Investment Reporting and ALM (asset-liability management) after beginning his career as a Financial Analyst at Shell.

He holds a MSc in Engineering from Mines ParisTech in Paris; an MSc in mineral economics from the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado; and is an actuary from Institut des Actuaires in France.
