Reading vs. Videos, Food for Thought

You need to read in order to write well, and you need to write in order to think well
— Paul Graham

“You can’t replace reading with other sources of information like videos, because you need to read in order to write well, and you need to write in order to think well.” – Paul Graham.

Something of a legend in Silicon Valley IT and VC circles, Paul Graham is an American computer scientist (Lisp programming language), entrepreneur (Yahoo Store), venture capitalist (Y Combinator), and author [1].

The Global Benefits Management (GBM) industry suffers from a lack of knowledge on the part of its (still mostly) potential clients. In late 2021, perhaps 5 or 6,000 organizations worldwide manage their benefits on a global, not multi-local, basis, whereas most of the world’s 120,000 multinationals ought to have some form of GBM in place. And we are seeing (quite literally in fact) videos overtaking written pieces as providers’ preferred way to address clients and prospects. Is this supposed to work?

A related thought: Writing often makes you realize that you do not understand what you are talking about. Now perhaps that’s precisely what we want to avoid. Just kidding of course.
