Robert Bauer joins Marsh to lead U.S. Sharing Economy & Mobility Practice

Robert Bauer in March 2019 joined insurance broker Marsh to lead its U.S. Sharing Economy & Mobility Practice. He is based in San Francisco and reports to Jeffrey Alpaugh, Growth & Industry leader for Marsh’s U.S. and Canada division.

Bauer will focus on developing and delivering products and services to companies operating in the new economy, working with others across Marsh including Marsh’s Digital, Data & Analytics team.

Bauer joins Marsh from AIG where he most recently served as General Insurance head of Innovation and its Sharing Economy Group. Previously, he was Corporate Communications Director, AIG; Director of External Affairs & Communications of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library Foundation; and Director of Strategic Planning, Director of Special Projects, Worldwide Anti-Piracy for the Motion Picture Association.

He holds a B.S. in Comparative Politics and a J.D. (Juris Doctor) in copyright and international trade, both from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., USA.

The term “sharing economy” describes peer-to-peer exchanges that mutualize access to products and services. When applied to mobility, sharing economy translates to car- or bike-sharing, shuttle services, ride sharing and on-demand ride services such as Uber and Lyft.
