Sir Richard Lewis, widely considered as the father of modern cross-cultural categorization and planning, is the former tutor of Empress Michiko of Japan and currently cultural adviser to the World Bank. He delivers seminars and workshops around the world to multinationals, banks, and government ministries.

He was knighted by President Ahtisaari of Finland in 1997 for his services to the Finnish government on their entry into the European Union, and subsequently elevated to the rank of Knight Commander in 2009. His seminal book, “When Cultures Collide,” won the U.S. Book of the Month award in 1999 and has sold over 1 million copies in 15 languages.
