Suncorp appoints Gary Dransfield to CEO

SunCorp Group, one of Australia’s largest financial services institutions, announced in October 2017 that they have named Gary Charles Dransfield as Chief Executive Officer, Insurance.

Mr. Dransfield has been with Suncorp since August 2009, first as Executive General Manager for Personal Insurance Retail Distribution, and then as Chief Executive Officer Vero New Zealand in April 2011, Chief Executive Officer Personal Insurance in October 2015. He most recently filled the role of Chief Executive Officer of Customer Platforms.

A highly-experienced financial services executive, Dransfield worked for 25 years in the retail financial services industry prior to joining Suncorp, holding positions in operations, strategy and marketing at companies such as St George Bank, AMP and IAG.

He has had a number of successes during his career including playing a key role in the successful conversion of St George from a building society to a bank, leading the I.T. team at IAG during the demutualization of NRMA and building the retail organization within NRMA, SGIO and SGIC.

He served as Chairman of Capital S.M.A.R.T. Repairs Australia and has been its Director from November 2015 to July 2016. He serves as a Director at Vero Insurance New Zealand. He also served as a Director of Vero Liability Insurance Limited and currently is a Board Member of the Insurance Council of New Zealand.
