Generali in June 2022 announced a reorganization of its management structure that sees all its global business lines report into a new business unit, i.e. “France, Europ Assistance and Global Business Lines”.
The three global business lines are:
- Generali Corporate and Commercial
- Generali Employee Benefits (GEB), including iPMI activities known as GGH (Generali Global Health)
- Arte Generali
GEB, headed by Ludovic Bayard since May 2022 [1], previously reported to the general manager Italy, who also oversaw Generali Corporate and Commercial.
Jean-Laurent Granier, previously in charge of France and Europ Assistance [2], will head the new unit, reporting to group CEO Philippe Donnet.
According to a press release [3], the objectives of the reorganization include reinforcing the role of the group head office towards business units; improving operational efficiency and accelerating Generali’s digital transformation; further implementing the group’s ESG strategy in investments and products; facilitating coordination and operating synergies.
In addition, the following organizational changes will be effective from 1 September:
- Marco Sesana, current country manager Italy and global business lines, is appointed general manager of the group head office function, managing on a group level transformation; marketing; investments; life and health insurance, P&C insurance, claims and reinsurance; as well as sustainability and social responsibility.
- Giancarlo Fancel, currently group chief risk officer, is appointed country manager Italy.
- Carlo Ferraresi, currently CEO of Cattolica Assicurazioni, is appointed group chief risk officer.
- A new business unit is created, including Germany, Austria and Switzerland, headed by Giovanni Liverani
- Stefan Lehmann, currently chief business officer exclusive sales at Generali Deutschland, becomes country manager Germany.
- Jaime Anchústegui, CEO International, now also oversees the Eastern European countries (EEC).
