Marsh McLennan (MMC) in September 2022 announced that John Q. Doyle has been named President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective January 1, 2023.
Operating under several brands: Marsh (P/C); Guy Carpenter (reinsurance); Mercer (L/H, including employee benefits); and Oliver Wyman (management consulting); and with sales of nearly USD 20 billion in 2021, MMC is by far the largest insurance broker in the world.
His predecessor Daniel S. Glaser will retire from MMC, including from its Board of Directors, where Doyle will replace him.
Doyle has served as Group President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of MMC since January 2022, and prior to that was President and CEO of Marsh, MMC’s risk advisory and insurance solutions business, from 2017 to 2021. He began his career at AIG and held several executive positions at the insurer, including CEO of AIG Commercial Insurance; President and CEO of AIG Property and Casualty in the US; President and CEO of National Union Fire Insurance Company; and President of American Home Assurance Company.
He is a graduate of The State University of New York at Buffalo, N.Y. He is a board member of the New York Police and Fire Widows’ & Children’s Benefit Fund and a trustee of the Inner-City Scholarship Fund of New York, N.Y.
