Swiss Re in December 2017 announced the appointment of John Dacey, who is currently the group’s Chief Strategy Officer, to replace David Cole, who is stepping down as Chief Financial Officer, effective 1 April, 2018.

Dacey, who holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Washington University and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Harvard University, joined Swiss Re in 2012, after serving as Group Regional CEO and Group Vice Chairman for Asia Pacific with AXA for six years.

Prior to that, Dacey was a member of the Group Executive Board at Winterthur Insurance, first as its CFO from 2000 to 2004, and subsequently as CFO and member of its risk and investment committees from 2005 to 2007.

Cole, who will step down as Group CFO on 31 March 2018 to pursue a non-executive career, will remain as a board member of Swiss Re subsidiary companies. Cole has been the Group CFO of Swiss Re since May 2014 and was Group Chief Risk Officer from 2011 to 2014.
