Mercer Marsh Benefits (MMB), Marsh & McLennan Companies’ (MMC) international employee benefits business, in February 2019 appointed Hervé Balzano as Leader of MMB International, based in London. He reports to Flavio Piccolomini, President of Marsh’s International Division, and Martine Ferland, President and CEO-elect of Mercer.

Balzano will be responsible for ensuring MMB meets increasing demand for health and employee benefits, especially in global growth markets, as well as enabling firms to balance the need to attract and retain top talent by expanding their benefits offering while managing medical cost inflation.

Hervé brings over 20 years of international experience in the insurance and employee benefits industry, most recently as global CEO of Credit & Lifestyle Protection at AXA Partners, based in London. Previously, he served as Head of Employee Benefits for AXA’s US business, as CEO of pooling network MAXIS GBN, as VP and Head of Sales of AXA France Group Life, as Head of Administration & Claims at AXA France Group Employee Benefits, and as Head of Control (Life) at AXA Courtage. He began his career as a Senior Corporate Account Executive in the International department of employee benefits broker Groupe Henner in Paris and was then selected by AXA to join its roster of young high-potential managers.

He holds a Master’s degree in International Economics & Finance from Paris University at Sorbonne; a Master in Banking, Finance & Insurance from Paris University at Nanterre; and an Master of Business Administration from Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (CNAM) in Paris.
